RVAM: Corporate Governance Challenges In Asia

River Valley Asset Management (RVAM) have published their September 2017 newsletter, which is available here. RVAM is a Singapore-based boutique asset management firm (their flagship fund is the River Valley Core Compounding Fund, launched in 2014). The firm was founded by Homiyar Vasania, who was previously part of Morgan Stanley’s emerging markets investment team.

In the latest letter, they examine the EM stock outperformance attributable to good governance. They also explain some of the corporate governance nuances in different Asian markets (with recent examples from Samsung Electronics and Infosys). Finally, they discuss some of the red flag checks they incorporate into their investment analysis. Interesting read.
