Readings For The Week (9/7)

Greetings from Penang! We were attending a friend’s wedding in George Town over the weekend. It was our first trip back to Malaysia since we moved from KL to Singapore during the pandemic and we had a wonderful time. Apart from the wedding festivities and all the delicious food, a personal highlight was a visit to The Habitat on Penang Hill, which my son loved. A few photos below.

Reading/content links include Jonathan Ruffer’s Q2 investment review, an interview with the CEO of Centrus Energy, Stephen Givens on the demise of the Japanese department store, John Thornton’s thoughts on the future of US-China relations and an excerpt from Bob Rubin’s new book.

  • Jonathan Ruffer: Q2 2023 investment review.
  • Energy Intelligence: Centrus CEO Poneman on HALEU, markets and national security.
  • Stephen Givens: For Japan’s department stores, the game is nearly over.
  • John Thornton: Navigating the future of US-China relations.
  • Robert Rubin: I don’t have the secret to making hard decisions, but I do have a yellow note pad (NYT, so article is likely paywalled unless you have a subscription).
